The Dark Cloud Over America
A dark cloud fell over the United States of America, June 26, 2015. We were attacked and brought down, but not by an outside enemy. No invading forces stormed our borders. No ISSIS beheading, no Islamic jihads. No Russian or Chinese assaults.
The cloud that fell came from within our own borders. It landed on our nation and spread upon its citizens the same corruption that brought about the most devastating judgement on other nations in a manner their world could never conceive. The dark cloud that fell on the United States came not from evil without; but from evil within.
Five high court judges ruled that the proven foundation of what makes a man a man, a woman a woman and the two a core of procreation, sanctified by the covenant of marriage and heaven itself, was no longer lawful.
In a single strike and of God’s own creation, they declared the unimaginable and insane. That a man can marry another man; and a woman another woman; and that it is now OK with the highest court in this country. Furthermore, any previous state laws that said otherwise, is now over thrown.
By their own decree the laws of sinful men have been made higher than the laws of that holy God.
Celebrations rang out in areas of the country. Streets gushed with dancing and those beside themselves with glee. Talk show hosts and their guests hailed this new law a victory for the equal rights of everyone. The United States president proudly trumpeted it as a victory for the children of homosexuals and lesbians.
Seeing how Satan brought forth that which God abhors as an abomination and declared it the law of the land, what is the faithful and loyal Christian to do?
Admittedly, my initial reaction was disgust toward those responsible for this. I instantly wrote a pastor friend of mine, whom I regularly spend time with in prayer, the following:
The great cancer of sin has advanced upon America today. The nation’s leaders are celebrating it with a crown of Sodom and Gomorrah. He Who restrains has been shoved aside for him who destroys. How wide is hell? How can the wicked pay for so great an evil they have brought against this nation. Where are the righteous? Are they hiding behind religious trees, running from the Voice of God? Look at what has happened on their watch. God have mercy.
This anguish was in spite of my knowledge that ungodly forces have been busily at work to bring this law into the books no matter what.
Throughout the years I’ve seen the sorrow and pain that sexual deviance and immorality bring to marriages, families, their children, their communities and the nation. For this country to make this clearly known bitterness an actual law of the land, then celebrate it, displays how utterly low our nation has fallen, and how far we are from God.
Yet as I perused more carefully what had just happened, in light of what the Bible clearly warned would come to pass, the light of God was there.
The Bible commands us, as Christians, that, “when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Lu 21:28)
What the wicked have hailed as a landmark decision, the Bible heralded as a sign of the end of this age.
Both biblical and secular history have recorded that every great nation that has done what the United States just did, has rapidly fallen. Sodom and Gomorrah fell. The great Roman empire fell. And now, America has followed the same path, ignoring the eye of the Almighty Who changes not. She, like the unsinkable Titanic, has struck a giant spiritual glacier, and is taking on the rushing waters of wickedness. America is sinking, quickly into its own grave; and all who are on board with her.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Ga 6:7)
The heart-loyal Christian is called to keep the faith and stay in the race to the very end. Laws of men that strike against the laws of God will also strike against the Christian believer. “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” Mt 10:22
This endurance means to put up with while we stand; and to continue standing until the Lord Jesus Himself delivers us from evil.
The cost of being a true Christian has just gone up in America. Where once everyone was free to practice what they believe, the American government has declared war against those who oppose what the government declares.
Because of this defiance against God the world will see continuous catastrophes day after day, until Christ comes.
Nevertheless, the follower of Jesus Christ is not called to do anything different than what the Bible has always said. God has added nothing new to His written Word, nor has He taken anything away from it. Those who do so will find themselves opposed to the Almighty, and utterly defeated.
There is no new revelation about homosexuality. It is the same abominable wickedness it has always been. It will receive the same harsh and bitter judgment it has always warranted.

Legalizing it does not make it safe. It further deludes those who practice it (in spite of their gnawing conscience) with a renewed sense of justification for their lusts, and a false sense of security. False because there is no such security in God for anyone who practices sin. When death shuts down their life, all that their disconnected soul will face are the horrid consequences of hell, if they do not now repent.
As a Christian we are to do what we’ve always been charged to do–preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Walk in His Word. Reach out to the lost with God’s truth and caring love. Pray for God’s mercy, His goodness and grace upon others, even upon our enemies.
As for this present world, understand that it is passing away. I know that’s hard to hear when we have gotten so many connections to this world. Nevertheless, the Bible tells us plainly–and it cannot lie–this world is passing away. With broken heart, we see it happening every day.
Yet a new world is coming, with a new Leader. He will not treat man like he’s a beast or an animal. He will not deceive him or set him against his neighbor or his brother. He will not poison his air His food, his water, his mind. He will administer life, and do so more and more abundantly. He will do all men good, and treat them justly. He will graciously teach and instruct all to love others as He loves them. He will administer peace on the earth. And men will honor Him, not just on the outside but inside their very hearts and minds and soul. They will truly love Him and be made abundantly fruitful because of His love for them.
This is the Kingdom of God. This is the place where the saints of God will live and abide forever.
This is our home.
The United States and this present world are not our home. Not to those who are born of the Spirit of God. True, we were born in this world. Yet by our the new birth into Christ we are no longer of this world. We are more like pilgrims on a journey. We are simply passing through. In this short journey we are instructed to bring others with us, telling them, “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Re 22:17)
This is what we are to present to the lost, the homosexual and to every other sinner.
